Why we started Georgeiv.net

Air freight moves some of the world's most valuable and time-sensitive goods, yet clear information about it is hard to find. Rate quotes are full of unexplained surcharges, customs rules differ from country to country, and much of what is published online is either sales material or too general to act on.

Georgeiv.net was created in 2021 to close that gap. We write for the people who actually ship goods by air: business owners sending their first consignment, procurement teams comparing quotes, and logistics coordinators who need a quick, reliable answer.

Every guide should leave the reader knowing exactly what to do next.

The standard we hold every article to

Our articles are written and reviewed by people with hands-on air cargo experience. We explain how costs are calculated, which documents each shipment needs, and where delays usually happen, using worked examples and primary sources rather than guesswork.

What we cover

Practical coverage of the questions shippers ask most, from the first quote to final delivery.

Rates and costs

How airfreight rates, chargeable weight and surcharges work, and how to compare quotes fairly.

Customs and documents

Air waybills, commercial invoices, HS codes and import clearance explained step by step.

Dangerous goods

Shipping lithium batteries, chemicals and other regulated items safely and legally.

Cold chain and perishables

Temperature-controlled shipping for pharmaceuticals, fresh produce and seafood.

Carriers and capacity

Freighter and belly capacity, airline cargo networks and seasonal market updates.

Express and time-critical

Courier, next-flight-out and urgent shipments, and when paying for speed makes sense.

How every article is made

Each guide goes through the same five steps before and after it is published.

  1. Research

We start from primary sources: IATA regulations, customs authorities and airline tariffs.

  2. Write

An experienced writer drafts the guide with worked examples and clear next steps.

  3. Technical review

George Brown checks every figure, rule and process for accuracy.

  4. Publish

The article goes live with its sources and a visible review date.

  5. Keep updated

We revisit guides at least twice a year and whenever regulations change.
